Meeting with Aldred was really rewarding–a real kindred spirit on Extended Learning matters. He will be an excellent leader and innovator in that respect for his own institution!

  2. I had the great pleasure of meeting with Aldred regularly while he was with the department. A scholar of great enthusiasm and curiosity, we talked at length about Aristotle, cognitive rhetoric, Kenneth Burke, New Testament rhetoric, science, formal assent, the oral tradition, rugby, pedagogy, South Africa, Canada, jazz, hiking, scholarship, the structure of the mind, the mysteries of knowledge, and the glories of a perfect sangria. Topics attempted and abandoned: cricket and hockey.
